Family Medicine Residency Curriculum

Doctor lecturingSaint Joseph Regional Medical Center Residency Program meets the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education’s (ACGME) requirements. Throughout a residency, rotations and evaluations occur using core competencies as a measure of performance.

First Year Resident

  • 3 blocks Medicine
  • 3 half blocks Night Float (Medicine)
  • 1 and 1 half blocks OB
  • 1 half block Inpatient Pediatrics
  • 1 block Outpatient Pediatrics*
  • 3 half blocks FMC Outpatient
  • 1 block ER*
  • 1 block Surgery*
  • 1 block Cardiology*
  • 1 block Orthopedics*

Second Year Resident

  • 2 blocks Medicine
  • 1 block OB
  • 3 half blocks Night Float (OB)
  • 2 half blocks Inpatient Pediatrics
  • 2 half blocks Outpatient Pediatrics
  • 1 block ER*
  • 1 block Rural Family Medicine*
  • 3 half blocks FMC Outpatient
  • 3 blocks Elective*

Third Year Resident

  • 3 half blocks Inpatient Chief
  • 3 half blocks Outpatient Chief
  • 1 half block Night Float
  • 1 half block Surgical Specialties
  • 1 block Gynecology*
  • 1 block Geriatrics*
  • 1 block Advanced Musculoskeletal *
  • 1 half block OB
  • 1 half block Inpatient Pediatrics
  • 1 block ER
  • 1 half block Dermatology
  • 3 and 1 half blocks Elective*
