Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center has many opportunities for direct and collaborative
patient care. Pharmacy has a collegial relationship with the physicians with which we
work. Many of our direct patient care activities also have the dual responsibility of
providing pharmacotherapy education to the medical team.

Pharmacotherapy Education
Beyond the teaching that goes on at rounds, pharmacy has a formal role in the
training of future pharmacists from Purdue and Butler Universities, future
physicians from Indiana University, and family medicine and podiatric physicians
from our own associated residency programs.

Medication Control
Pharmacy has the responsibility of medication control and safety throughout
Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. This includes devising policies and
procedures for medication control, conducting medication utilization measures
to ensure rational medication choice and safety, and developing physician
order pathways to ensure the standard treatment of disease.
