Family Medicine Curriculum- Effective July 1, 2011

As you look through our curriculum, we are on course with meeting the ACGME's (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) requirements. Throughout your residency, your rotations and evaluations will occur using the competencies as a guide to measure your performance

First Year Resident

  • 3 blocks Medicine
  • 3 - 1/2 blocks Night Float (Medicine)
  • 2 blocks OB
  • 2 blocks Pediatrics (Newborn Care and Outpatient Pediatrics)*
  • 1 block ER*
  • 1 block Surgery*
  • 1 block Cardiology*
  • 1/2 block Radiology
  • 1/2 block Rehabilitation
  • 1/2 block Human Behavior Mental Health

Second Year Resident

  • 2 blocks Medicine
  • 1 block OB
  • 3 - 1/2 blocks Night Float (OB)
  • 2 blocks Pediatrics
  • 1 block ER*
  • 1 block Ortho (includes Sports Medicine)*
  • 1 block Management of Health Systems*
  • 1/2 block ENT
  • 1/2 block Sports Medicine
  • 1/2 block Human Behavior Mental Health
  • 2 blocks Electives*

Third Year Resident

  • 3 - 1/2 blocks Day Chief
  • 3 - 1/2 blocks Night Chief
  • 1 block Surgery*
  • 1 block Gynecology*
  • 1 block Rural Medicine*
  • 1/2 block Urology
  • 1/2 block Community Medicine
  • 1/2 block Dermatology
  • 1/2 block Ophthalmology
  • 1/2 block Orthopedics
  • 1/2 block Human Behavior Mental Health
  • 4 blocks Electives*
